South Carleton's Athletic Program is supported by a strong Intramural Program that includes such activities as touch football, 3 on 3 basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, mini sticks, indoor soccer, dodgeball, badminton, and a very popular daily weight room club during the lunch period for all students. Listen for the announcements, register your team, and amaze your friends while you burn off some energy at lunch. Please see any of the Phys Ed staff for more information.

The Jester is published at the end of each school year. Currently, production of The Jester is a credit course at SCHS. The yearbook adviser/teacher is Ms. Cation.

Submit your photos for inclusion in the yearbook using the Replay It app - available free of charge.

Drama Club

Fifth Wall Productions is the school's drama society. The goal is to mount two main stage productions each year, one in the fall and one for the Sears Festival in the spring. Students may participate as actors, running crew, design team, and front of house team. Auditions are held to fit students to roles. Commitment and enthusiasm are the key requirements! See Mrs. Clark or Mr. Eyamie for more information.

H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everywhere)

SC made a difference last year! Here are a few of the great causes we supported:

  • We helped Richmond sponsor a Syrian refugee family.
  • We held a successful canned food drive for the Stittsville and Richmond Food Cupboards
  • We held a warm clothing drive to support homeless youth in Ottawa
  • We raised money to support the fire relief efforts in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • We joined forced with "The Green Team" and recycled almost 4 thousand batteries. The equivalent ZINC was sent as zinc tablets to third world countries.
  • We supported a local family that had fallen on hard times with almost $500 in cash and gift cards.
  • We supported Christie Lake Kids with a monetary donation.

This year we hope to run a "Relay for Life" to raise funds for Cancer research and hold a multicultural awareness fair that will support education and health initiatives in third world countries.

SC HOPE meets Mondays at lunch in room 15.  New members are always welcome. Come on out and see how you can make a difference! See Ms. Pattison for more information.

Are you a fan of Naruto or Bleach? Don't have a clue what we're talking about? Well, if you enjoyed shows such a Pokemon or Sailor Moon as a child, then you're in the right place! Anime Club meets every Thursday @ lunch in Room 25. Come check it out!

Rainbow Alliance

The Rainbow Alliance provides a safe place for students to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation, and work to end homophobia. The Rainbow Alliance provides confidentiality to students who are struggling with their identity as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning, but is also open to heterosexuals. Their meetings are a great opportunity to meet interesting people and have some fun! Meetings are held every Wednesday at lunch in room 26. Please see Ms. Clark for more information.

The Tech Crew at SC provides the highest quality of lights and sound in the theatre. Junior members are trained so they can start running shows as soon as possible. They are constantly at work either running shows, rehearsing, or fixing and adjusting equipment. Meetings are held Tuesdays at lunch in room 25. Please see Mr. Eyamie for more information.

Coffee House

Coffee Houses are the culmination of months of hard work for the musicians and technicians. Contemporary music is performed in a relaxed café-style setting. For 2 hours families and members of the community experience a wide variety of music from artists such as Our Lady Peace, Goo Goo Dolls, Gorillaz, as well as a variety of original tracks from our homegrown SC talent pool. Audiences are usually in the 150-300 range. Proceeds from the Coffee Houses fund a musicians' scholarship which helps deserving graduates seeking post secondary schooling in music, audio recording and sound engineering. Please see Mr. McIntyre for more information.

Leadership Camp and Leadership Planning Committee (LPC)

Leadership Camp is a phenomenal event that takes place every November for three days. Students spend these days at school, overnight, learning and sharpening the various leadership skills they acquire throughout the weekend. The Leadership Planning Committee is a group of motivated South Carleton students who organize and run this wonderful camp. This camp is an extraordinary experience filled with laughter and inspirational memories. We hope to see you at the next camp. Love, LPC. Please see Mrs. Francis or Mrs. Scott-Thomas for more information.

Poetry in Voice

Poetry in Voice is a national poetry recitation contest for high school students in Canada. Participants work to bring their own intelligence, perspective, and experience to the poems they choose for recitation. As they build a connection with those poems they choose, they share ideas and inspiration with their like-minded literary peers. Local and regional competitions provide an opportunity to share poetry in wider circles. Students come to know their poems "by heart", and will carry them for life. Please see Ms. Panabaker or Mr. Brooks for more information.

Storm Surge

Storm Surge is South Carleton's answer to Glee. This talented group loves to sing, and has participated in competitions in Ottawa and Toronto.

Storm Surge practices every Tuesday after school and every Friday at lunch in Room 38. See Mr McIntyre for more details. All newcomers welcome.

Green Team

The Green Team is a group of students from grades 9 to 12 who care about the environment and want to encourage greener practices. The Green Team meets Mondays in room 34. See Mme. Royo for more information.

The Well

The Well is made up of staff and students who are Christians and/or want to learn more about the Christian faith. Weekly lunch time meetings are where we connect and discuss various faith-based topics. We also initiate and participate in service-based projects and random acts of kindness. The Well meets Wednesdays at lunch in room 28. Please see Ms. Reid-Anstey for more information.

South Carleton Athletic Association (SCAA)

The mandate of South Carleton's newest club is to organize special events and intramurals in the Gym. The goal is to raise school spirit and increase physical participation for the students and teachers in the school. In particular we are interested in increasing physical activity opportunities for those students who do not take Healthy Active Living (phys.ed.) or do not belong to a inter-scholastic team. Please see Mr. Eyamie, Mr. Bedard, or Ms. Kortko for more information.

Writer's Club

Students in South Carleton's Writers' Club love to write, so much so that they come out to a weekly meeting to write, share their writing, prepare for various contests, and organize the Writers' Festival.  This year, we are meeting every Friday at lunch in room 6, so if you like to write for enjoyment, to make a difference, or to strut your stuff in writing competitions, why not come out and see what we're all about? Please see Ms. Amini for more information.
