South Carleton's bands are on hiatus this year. Keep playing your instrument, and keep the joy that music brings alive in your heart.
South Carleton has two Concert Bands, a Jazz Band, and a Guitar Ensemble. We are community oriented, performing in local parades and at community events. The bands are made up of a variety of keen and talented musicians, representing every family of musical instruments. Band practices are held in the Music Room.

This is a great achievement and wonderful recognition of the dedication and hard work of the South Carleton band students. The Junior Band also played an outstanding performance at Musicfest, receiving a Gold standing. The South Carleton Jazz Band performed on March 3rd with a clean and tight performance, receiving a Silver Plus standing, with an invitation to attend Musicfest Canada Nationals. Over 3,000 students participated in the 2017 festival in concert band and jazz band categories in a total of 122 ensembles. Congratulations to all our talented musicians and Mrs. Woods!
SC Band in Santa Claus Parade 2014
For the 5th year, South Carleton Band students helped to welcome Santa Claus to Richmond by playing carols in the Santa Claus Parade. 35 students in grades 9 to 12 bundled up to entertain parade goers all the way down McBean Street on Saturday, December 6. Tons of fun was had by all.

Stickled Pink Runs Again
Band members, along with SC staff Mrs. Sarah Woods and Mrs. Kristie Kortko and parent Mrs. Andrea Easton, participated in the Run for the Cure. The team raised $665 this year for breast cancer research.

South Carleton Goes to New York City
The music department enjoyed a four day trip to New York City from May 13-16, 2014. In addition to participating in two Broadway music clinics and a swing dancing lesson, students enjoyed touring Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, the Top of the Rock, the UN Building, and Times Square. They also took in a performance of the Phantom of the Opera.
