June is Pride Month!
June was chosen as 2SLGBTQ+ Pride Month to honour the Stonewall riots in late June 1969 in New York. These protests marked a significant moment in 2SLGBTQ+ activism, and Pride Month is now observed worldwide as a time to recognize the struggles, histories and successes of 2SLGBTQ+ cultures, identities, and communities. In the OCDSB, we come together in positive ways to show our support and respect for the dignity and safety of all students. This is a significant demonstration of the care that we all share in working to improve mental health and well-being and sense of belonging for all.
SCHS will be flying the OCDSB Pride flag for the month of June. This symbolic act signifies the OCDSB's commitment to inclusivity for all, and welcoming and representing 2SLGBTQ+ students, families, and staff.
