Grade 8 Information

Welcome to South Carleton High School

South Carleton has begun to prepare for the Class of 2026!

Your child deserves all we can do to prepare them for this next milestone in their lives. We know that information is a powerful part of helping them grow and adjust to the exciting world of high school, new experiences and preparing for their future. At South Carleton HS, we believe that a strong transition program between schools produces positive outcomes for student success.

Your child's well-being is our priority as we invite you to learn more about the transition to high school and how we will support your child as they move into grade 9.

Gr.8 Going to High School information night April 28

The OCDSB invites you to "Going to High School", a virtual Grade 8 transition to secondary school information night. The event will be held on April 28, 2022 from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Students and families are invited to pre-register for the virtual conference. Instructional coaches will be facilitating 15-minute presentations, allowing students/families time to “visit” various subject areas. The shift to a destreamed curriculum will be presented to address some of the questions we have received from our parent community, helping to alleviate some of the anxieties about this important transition for our students.

Some of the sessions will be offered in multiple languages, including Farsi/Arabic, Somali/Arabic, Arabic, Mandarin/Cantonese. Additional sessions related to Link Crew, mental health and wellness, Indigenous, Equity and 2SLGTBQ+ supports are also offered, with many more.

Please visit the "Going to High School" website for a full list of presentations and to register for the conference.

View the recording of our virtual parent information session here.  Parent(s)/Guardian(s) and their children can 'meet' staff and students from South Carleton and discover more about our unique program offerings for the 2022-2023 school year.

There is a wealth of information about what our new grade 9 students can expect at South Carleton on the Register at SCHS page, located under the Our School tab. This includes: information about Xello, the new online course selection tool; resources to help with course selection, including a link to SCHS course guide; information about clubs & athletics at SCHS; information about Link Crew, our tremendously popular mentoring program to ease the transition to high school.
