Grade 9 Visual Arts gives students a start in the world of art making, painting, drawing and ceramics are some of the topics introduced and explored. Developing creativity and producing art is what we do.

Grade 9 Dance is a great way to explore a popular form of performance art. Students will learn several dances in various world dances in various world dance styles. Students will have the opportunity to learn and use fundamental dance theory in dance creation. At the end of the semester, students will perform in a summative dance show.

Grade 9 Drama offers the student an opportunity to develop the basic skill in an actor’s toolbox, improvisation, character development. The student will work collaboratively and independently to develop control and concentration. The student will have a lot of fun with creative play!

Grade 9 Music class provides students with an opportunity to continue playing the instrument studied in Gr. 7 & 8. They can also learn a new instrument or add a second instrument to their repertoire. Music history, appreciation and theory will be studied.

The Guitar class is open to all levels of playing ability. No previous experience required. The program is the study of chords, note reading TAB, variety of strumming patterns and American finger style playing.

This course enables students to further explore and develop technological knowledge and skills introduced in construction technology, technological design, manufacturing technology and transportation technology. Students will develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will begin to explore secondary and postsecondary pathways leading to careers in the field.

This course equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities, students develop knowledge and skills related to movement competence and personal fitness that provide a foundation for active living. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.

This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills, and will be given opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, coping, social, and interpersonal skills. Students will also study the components of healthy relationships, reproductive health, and personal safety. Improved physical fitness through aerobic and weight training is the main objective of this course.
