Checklist for Graduating Students


Community Service Hours

The requirement for 40 hours of community service has been waived for this year's graduating class.

If you have completed some volunteer hours but haven't yet submitted the log sheets, you can still submit them - just scan the log sheet and email it to Ms. McCallum.

Commencement Slideshow

All grads attending the Commencement Ceremony must complete their profile for the slideshow. This will be shown as you walk across the stage.

Go to and fill in your plans for next year and a memorable moment from your years at SCHS. Also fill in any awards or certificates not administered by the school. You can go back and edit your profile until June 9. This can only be done while at school.

Commencement Tickets

Each graduating student is allotted up to 3 tickets for guests at Commencement. These will be available for pick up in the Library Learning Commons beginning May 4. You must have completed the following tasks before you can get your tickets:

  • 40 hours of community service submitted

  • Cap & gown ordered

  • Slideshow profile at least started

  • Liabilities cleared

If you have more than 3 guests you may ask to go on the waitlist for up to 2 additional tickets. Wait list tickets cost $10 each and will be available in mid-June.


Grad Google Survey

Check your school email for the Grad Google Survey. Please complete the survey by March 11.

Grade 12 Community Awards

The application for the Community Awards/Scholarships will be open to graduating students from the end of day Wednesday March 11th, to end of day Friday April 3rd. The link will be emailed to all Grads. There are lots of different awards - be sure to check them out!

Victory Lap

Are you thinking about doing a victory lap (returning to South Carleton next year)? Make an appointment with your Guidance Counsellor to discuss your options, and fill out the Request to Return form.

Cap and Gown Rental

Cap and gown rentals are on hold for now. Stay tuned for more information!

All students attending the Commencement Ceremony must rent a cap and gown. The cost is $40, or $30 if you paid your student fees. This amount also subsidizes Grad Breakfast. You will need to know your height when you order your gown. NB: Financial support is available where necessary.

Grad Breakfast

Grad Breakfast will be held in the Caf on Tuesday, June 16 at 7:00 am. The breakfast will be catered by Royals, and served by your teachers! You will be asked to RSVP closer to the date.
