SchoolMessenger App

Keeping you connected with your child’s school is important. Our job is to make it easy, accurate and reliable to connect with you. The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) has contracted with Powerschool, provider of SchoolMessenger for parental outreach, emergency broadcasts, student attendance alerts and other communications.

SchoolMessenger is designed to automatically notify parents for reasons that affect the safety and academic performance of students.

SchoolMessenger will extend OCDSB’s existing community outreach efforts and emergency preparedness procedures, as well as inform parents of upcoming school events such as such as EQAO provincial testing, school council meetings, parent- teacher interviews and more!

As an OCDSB parent, you are already registered for SchoolMessenger. However, you now have options to choose how you want to be notified, either by phone or email or both. You can sign up to receive additional school updates, newsletters and more.

SchoolMessenger will not replace current school communication methods. Principals will still be accessible in-person and will continue to communicate via current methods. The District’s implementation of the SchoolMessenger system is intended to extend its commitment to remain personally connected with parents by offering additional and timely communications.

The use of SchoolMessenger is now active and available for use in all OCDSB schools. There is also a free, easy-to-use SchoolMessenger App available for both iOS and Android based cell phones.  You can receive notifications directly to your cell phone.

SchoolMessenger SafeArrival is the efficient absence management system in OCDSB schools.
