Get Involved

Community Members

We invite the community to get involved in the life of our schools and the District. There are numerous opportunities that suit a variety of interests and levels of involvement. From becoming a community representative on your local school council, to sitting on a District committee, the options are endless. By getting involved you will help to ensure that the District and its schools continue to educate for success through inspiring learning and building citizenship.

Research shows that by getting involved in your child's education, you will inspire your child to learn and build the confidence and self-esteem that they need to succeed in school. Parental involvement comes in a number of forms, both in schools and at home. From helping your child with their homework to accompanying the class on a field trip, you can truly make a difference in your children's education, while building relationships with the people and resources in your community.

Students are also actively involved in helping the community in order to fulfill a graduation requirement. You may see them in libraries, hospitals, and at many of the registered agencies and organizations in the city completing at least 40 hours of community involvement. An important aspect of educating for success and building citizenship, community involvement helps students to increase their awareness of community needs, identify with their community, learn to make a difference, and develop a positive self-image through contribution to community life.
