Friday, September 20 is Richmond Fair Friday. We are aware that many students and families take part in this wonderful community tradition and our ability to deliver a meaningful program, especially in the afternoon of this day, is impacted. With the understanding there may be reduced afternoon attendance, the schedule for Friday, September 20th will continue as usual and students will be supervised, however, no new learning or evaluations (i.e., tests) will take place in afternoon classes. Please notify the school as soon as possible if your student will be absent.

Parents are invited to join us at Meet the Teacher night on Thursday, September 19. Bring a copy of your child's timetable and visit each classroom. There will also be a Post-Secondary information session for parents of gr. 11 & 12 students, an information session regarding Student Success/Special Education, and a presentation about the DELF (Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française).

The Stittsville Youth Centre is back! Come for the Open House on Wednesday, September 25 from 5-7. Regular hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-8. The Kiwanis Club of Kanata-Stittsville runs the SYC at Frederick Banting Alternative School. The SYC provides a place for Youth (grades 7 through 12) to safely gather, socialize, relax, learn new skills, find ways to engage in community opportunities, and make new friends. And it's free!

Do you need volunteer hours? Volunteer Ottawa is holding its Fall Volunteer Expo on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Nepean Sportsplex (1701 Woodroffe Ave, Nepean). This is a free, in-person event where you can speak with dozens of local charities about volunteer opportunities.
