Department Head: Mr. David Crowe
The South Carleton English program provides students with the opportunity to learn important reading, writing, and oral communication skills. Students are challenged to develop their critical thinking while exploring texts from diverse points of view. Additionally, our program places a focus on student voice and student choice, allowing each individual to find texts and materials that inspire their studies.

ENL1W - English |
A destreamed course focusing on building the foundation needed for high school English studies. Students are presented with varying types of texts, including media and oral pieces, while learning the basics of critical inquiry and analysis. |

A locally-developed program that works with students to build key reading and writing skills. (Not a college/university stream course) |
Grade 10 |
ENG2D - Grade 10 English |
A destreamed course continuing the building of fundamental skills and development of critical analysis. Students are presented with varying types of texts, including media and oral pieces, in order to add on to the skills learned in grade 9. |

Grade 11 |
NBE3U/3C/3E - Contemporary First Nations, Metis, and Inuit Voices and Perspectives in English (University/College/Essential) |
The grade 11 program focuses on texts (oral, written, and media) that have been crafted by the Indigenous communities throughout Canada. By exploring these texts, students are presented a diverse perspective, while continuing to build the fundamental skills needed for grade 12 English. |
Grade 12 |
ENG4U/4C/4E - Grade 12 English |
The grade 12 program works to prepare students for the post-secondary world, whether they attend College, University, or enter the world of work. These courses continue to hone fundamental reading, writing, and oral communication skills. |
