Welcome to South Carleton High School!
Our school has been a part of the Richmond community since 1952. We have evolved along with the local community keeping its rural values within a quickly growing population. Our enrollment, starting out as merely 253 students, is now over 1550 students in this 2023-24 school year. It’s humbling to consider the generations of local families that have graduated from here throughout the 71 year history.
We strive to continually expand our educational programming options and extracurricular activities to support the character development of our students. The principles and attributes of character development are universal and transcend socio-economic status, racial, ethno-cultural, linguistic, religious, gender, physical/ intellectual ability and other demographic factors. Our school follows the OCDSB Indigenous, Equity and Human Rights Roadmap recognizing our students' inherent dignity within our learning community and our responsibility to engage in anti-oppression and anti-racism endeavours alongside them.
I feel honoured to be the Principal at a school that has such a history of achievement and excellence. On behalf of the incredible teachers, educational assistants, technicians, custodians and office staff - welcome to South Carleton.
Take care,
Jessica Young, Principal
