Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) Programs allow high school students in grades 11 and 12 to take a concentration of courses that match their skills and interests. These programs are being offered at a variety of schools throughout the Board.

Health and Wellness: Community Support Services
Further your studies while exploring careers related to community support services such as geriatric services workers, youth workers, early childhood educators, and fitness trainers.

Information and Communications Technology: Digital Photography, Media and Imaging
Focus your passion for media design and production using our advanced studios. You will develop skills used in a variety of industries: including graphic design, game design, animation, film and photography. Certifications depend on the pathway students are interested in pursuing.

Manufacturing: Fabrication
Experience the fabrication and tool & die trades through on-site and in-class projects which focus on design, fabrication, and quality control standards as they relate to the manufacturing industry.

Construction: House Building
Work with your teacher and a home-building company to construct/renovate a house, or build/modify other structures. Gain valuable hands-on experience while you learn traditional and advanced construction techniques.
Prerequisite: Students must be 16 years of age or older.

Transportation: Automotive Service and Repair
Develop technical knowledge and skills as you study, test, service, and repair engine management systems; power trains; steering/control, suspension, brake, and body systems on automotive vehicles and/or small-engine products.
