June is Pride Month! June was chosen as 2SLGBTQ+ Pride Month to honour the Stonewall riots in late June 1969 in New York. These protests marked a significant moment in 2SLGBTQ+ activism, and Pride Month is now observed worldwide as a time to recognize the struggles, histories and successes of 2SLGBTQ+ cultures, identities, and communities. SCHS will be flying the OCDSB Pride flag for the month of June. This symbolic act signifies the OCDSB's commitment to inclusivity for all, and welcoming and representing 2SLGBTQ+ students, families, and staff.

Attention Class of 2024! Grad wear is now available to order. There are a variety of styles and colours to choose from. Personalization is available for an additional cost. Order your grad wear before July 1 to avoid shipping costs by having it shipped to the school in September.

Graduating students are invited to Grad Breakfast on Monday, June 19 at 7:00 am. Enjoy a hot breakfast catered by Royals and served by your teachers! Regrets to the Main office please. Anyone who ordered a grad cap & gown will receive it at the breakfast.

Celebrate South Carleton's student athletes at the Athletic Banquet on Wednesday, June 14th! Guests may purchase tickets at School Cash Online for $15 each. A light dinner will be served and a variety of athletic awards will be presented. Student athletes wishing to apply for an Athletic Letter must submit the form by June 2.

Our Commencement Ceremonies this year will take place on Tuesday, June 27th. Due to the very large graduating class, we will hold two ceremonies, one at 10:00am and one at 1:00pm. There will be a reception between the two ceremonies to allow all of our graduates to be together and take pictures. We are looking forward to celebrating the incredible achievements of the Class of 2023!

Summer will be here before we know it! Registration for summer school programs is open until June 19.

Join the Zone for Collaborative Crafts! Every Monday from 2:30-4:00 in room 1009, the DSP Room. Collaborative Crafts is an art-based program that aims to engage with youth through art-based activities as well as art-based media. This program provides a safe space for youth to connect with each other while also enjoying art! Snacks will be provided. Please register in advance.

The OCDSB offers free virtual tutoring in grades 7-12 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 4:00-7:00. In person homework support is available at various locations Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 4:00-7:00.

This September, the OCDSB is launching the OCDSB Cares anonymous reporting tool in secondary schools. OCDSB Cares is a reporting tool for students looking to share concerns about the health, well-being and safety of themselves or others - anonymously.
