The South Carleton co-op program gives students the opportunity to learn outside the typical classroom environment. Students are matched with workplaces related to their interests, where they learn from industry professionals and experience what it is like to work within that field. By sampling potential career paths, students can gain essential insight to help target their high school goals.
This “hands on” form of learning helps students gain essential job skills and begin career networking.
We offer co-op opportunities in sectors such as:
- Arts and Recreation
- Health and Natural Sciences
- Social Science and Human Services
- Information Technology
- Business, Sales and Service
- Trades and Industrial Technology
Through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), co-op students interested in any of Ontario’s over 300 skilled trades can begin their path toward obtaining trades certification. Leveraging this program many students are able to begin apprenticeships while still attending school.
